However, the whole expanse of the lake and the reservoir can be seen from a distance and you can catch a stunning sunset from the vicinity of the lake.

The most well-known spot in this trail is Tipu’s Drop, a 600-metre-high cliff which was used during Tipu’s reign to hurl prisoners down to their demise. Another must-see attraction is Tipu’s Summer Residence, which was named by Tipu himself as the Tashk-e-Jannat, meaning ‘the envy of heaven.
Nandi Hills is home to quite a few temples, and one such temple that you must visit is the Bhoga Nandeeshwara temple in Nandi village. Dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consorts Nandi and Parvati, this temple is one of the oldest temples in the area and is a beautifully designed work of architecture.

The place was under the control of Hoysala kings and the queen Shanthala, wife of Vishnuvardhana committed suicide in this hill out of depression as she did not give birth to a son and the place is identified as Shantahala drop. The hill was fortified during the 16th century by Shivappa Nayaka which is in ruins. The founder of Bengaluru, Magadi Kempegowda also improved the fort and kept a portion of his treasure in this fort.
Sri Honnammadevi Temple is inside the cave. Sri Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple is also inside the cave. Gavi means Cave, Gangadhareshwara means Parameshwara having Gange on the top. Every year in the month of January on the day of Sankranthi festival, the marriage function of Sri Gangadhareshwara and Sri Honnammadevi (Parvathi) is conducted. At that time Ganga holy water will come from the rock at the top of hill and that holy water is used for the dhare ritual (solemnise) of the marriage function.
An interesting miracle happens here is that when an abhisheka is performed on Shivalinga with ghee, the ghee turns to butter. Devotees can see the miracle live during abhisheka.It is said that the ghee that turns to butter has medicinal powers and can cure many ailments. According to legend there exists a secret tunnel that extends from the sanctum sanctorum (Garba Griha) of this temple
Savandurga trek follows a trail to the top of Asia’s largest monolith hill.

Upon reaching the top, hikers often feel mesmerized by the sight of old fortress, which despite being in a dilapidated condition reflects the majestic appeal it once held. There is also an old abandoned Shiva temple at the top where the hikers can relax and enjoy the view of their magnificent surroundings. The trek to the top of Skandagiri is on the easier side, with a well marked out route. The early part of the trek is pretty dry in terms of vegetation. However, as you start getting close to the top of the hill, you start to see lush vegetation. The top of the hill offers panoramic views of the valley below.
Standing there, on top of the hill, you almost feel like a ruler yourself, with an eye on your kingdom. Although the fort is in a very bad condition, do take a walk around it to enjoy the mysticism surrounding it.
